Imagine That is a cute family comedy movie starring Eddie Murphy as Evan the distraught father who is all work and no play, rarely having time to play with his 7-year-old daughter Olivia. Evan is a successful corporate businessman who has been the top man at the same company for eight years. Then enters Johnny Whitefeather and soon becomes Evans rival as he tries his Native American approach to overshadow Evans progress and steal his top ranking spot. The top execs seem spellbound by Johnny’s outlandish ideas instead of Evans sound and conventional advice as to how to best make the company profitable.

 

While playing with his daughter, Evan unwittingly finds that she is able to see into the future with her purple goo-gaa blanket that is a part of her imaginary magical world. Soon Evan is using the blanket to help make predictions and find his place back in the spotlight of his corporate executive bosses. As he and Johnny Whitefeather compete for the top position heading the western division of the company a chink is thrown into Evans plans as he prepares for his star presentation to win the spot, he finds his daughter is spending the night at friends with her magic blanket. With out the blanket he is not able to enter her imaginary world to find the answers he is seeking and he is suddenly torn between the love of his daughter and the pursuit of his corporate gain.

 

Legally Blonde is another featured movie for the New Year on ABC and with its witty charm it is a true favorite for the entire family. Reese Witherspoon and several stars of the movie will keep you in stitches as her character Elle Woods decides to follow the boyfriend who has just dumped her to Harvard Law School. The chick sorority girl soon learns that with a little hard work she has all the class and smarts to become a savvy lawyer and while trying to use her wits to win back her boyfriend she quickly realizes he may not be the man of her dreams. Costarring Luke Wilson as Emmett who is quickly attracted to Elle and his influence in her relationship woes creates a quick bond. Will Elle keep pursuing her old boyfriend or will she find new love as she competes with the caddy students to win a spot as a potential lawyer.

 

A Disney-Pixar feature film Up on ABC will be a scheduled favorite. The cute movie has won several awards including best-animated feature of the year. Up is centered on Carl whom after losing his wife suddenly wants to escape to explore the world and his life long dream to visit South America and explore it wild and lush landscape is looming in his imagination. As the city area he lives in is under construction and the world around him is quickly changing, he decides that now is the time to make his adventure dreams come true. He ties thousands of balloons to his house and as he begins floating away from the annoying city that has been suffocating him he realizes he has a stow away. The young stowaway Russell clings to the porch as the house soon beginning flying away. Reluctantly Carl lets him in and their adventure begins. What will the odd pair find in their travel adventures and will Russell ever be able to get home to his family?

 

Several movies are available on ABC and the New Years Schedule will have families viewing some entertaining specials from the comforts of home. Other great favorites available on ABC are The Chronicles of Narnia, The entire Harry Potter movie series, Revenge of the Bridesmaids, Pirates of the Caribbean – Curse of the Black Pearl and My Fake Fiancé to list a few.
